The Harris Memorial Library in Otego is planning several fundraisers to benefit the building project.
Recent fundraisers included an ice cream social and a radio-controlled model airplane expo; organizers said both events were negatively affected by rainy weather.
On Thursday, the library will offer a combined ice cream festival and wildlife program. Ice cream will be served on the library porch starting at 5:30 p.m. The cost will be $1 for a small cone, $2 for a medium cone and $3 for a sundae.
At 6:30 p.m. on the grass behind the library, Wildlife Learning Co. of Hartwick will present a program on birds of prey, featuring a barred owl, a red-tailed hawk and other live birds.
The wildlife program is supported by Federal Library Services and Technology Act funds, awarded to the New York State Library by the Federal Institute of Museum and Library Services.
On Aug. 29, the library will host a benefit concert at the Methodist Church, featuring local professional musicians. The program will begin at 7 p.m.
A basket-making class will be conducted by Martha Bremer at the Harris House on Aug. 11 and 18, starting at 7 p.m. Advance registration is required. There will be a nominal charge for the materials.
The Otego version of "Antiques Roadshow" will be held again in the fall.
The building committee is seeking estimates to paint the Harris House this summer.
