Ernest Burgher, of 57 Valleyview St. in Oneonta, showed off an early cucumber on vines in a planter near Clinton Plaza on Main Street. For fun, he poked a couple of cucumber seeds into a planter a while ago.
The plants grew, and now there are some little cucumbers growing on the vine.

July 21, 1962
DELHI _ Delhi Women's Democratic Club, and the Utsayantha Women's Democratic Club, of Stamford, will hold a joint dinner-meeting at 8 p.m. today, at the Hidden Inn, South Kortright.
Mae Gurevich, of New York City, vice-chairman of the New York State Democratic Committee, will be the principal speaker of the evening.
William Ward, of Suffern, Democratic candidate for the 28th Congressional District, now held by Mrs. Katherine St. George of Tuxedo Park, will also speak as will Hans Boening of Franklin, Democratic candidate for Delaware County Assemblyman, who will oppose the current incumbent, Edwyn E. Mason, Republican, of Hobart.
Miss Elizabeth Hawley, president of the Delhi Club, Mrs. Nancy Page, president of the Stamford Club, and Mrs. Nellie C. Williams, of Delhi, Delaware County Democratic Committee vice-chairman, and general chairman of the event, will have charge of arrangements.
They will be assisted by Miss Julia Grant, of Stamford, Mrs. Anne Sadowski, of Delhi, and members of the public relations and publicity committee.
