COOPERSTOWN _ Cooperstown Fire Department Monday night saved a speedboat moored at the Coopertown Village Dock from sinking, following a call by an unidentified caller to the village police about 11:30 p.m.
The fire department, under the direction of Francis F. Olin, chief, and ten men with the emergency truck, went to the dock. It took about a half an hour to pump the water out of the craft.
Apparently, in some as yet unknown manner, the hull had been pierced, leaving a hole which caused the boat to fill with water.
It was reported that the boat is owned by Charles Herzog of Worcester.
