Television viewers hooked to the cable service in Norwich and Walton, may within the next 10 days see a new channel appear on their sets.
This was revealed Wednesday night by William J. Calsam, president of Eastern Microwave Inc.
Mr. Calsam, whose office is in Oneonta, said that the FCC has given his firm permission to set up his microwave equipment at Rogers Knob, about 8 miles from Unadilla.
The new equipment will allow the cable to carry three independent New York City stations, Mr. Calsam said.
He noted that Oneonta subscribers may soon get as many as three more channels on their local sets.
Currently there are five channels carried locally on the cable.
Before the three additional channels can be carried to Oneonta viewers, Mr. Calsam said, a study will have to be made. Additional channels could also be added to Delhi and Sidney cables, he said.
