July 21, 1984

DELHI _ Seventeen-year-old Kyle Shader of Stamford won the championship flight of the Delaware Junior golf tournament Thursday by shooting a round of 38-37-75 on the par-72 Delhi College Golf Course.

Shader's score was a new tourney record, eclipsing the mark of 76 set last year by Dave Kulaski of Delhi.

John Wagner of Sidney was second with a 41-42-83 while Larry Stage of Sidney was third with 46-43-89 and Mike Friere of Delhi shot 44-45-89 in the championship flight for boys age 15-17.

The B flight for boys aged 14-15 was won by Matt Michel of Roxbury, 14, who shot 43-50-93 and Aaron Pohli of Stamford shot 46-49-95. Dave Reynolds of Delhi shot 50-45-95.

July 21, 1959

RICHFIELD SPRINGS _ As a part of New York State's Year of History, the Town of Warren will have a tour of historic spots in that township on Sunday, July 26.

A meeting will be held in the library at 3 p.m. after which a motorcade will form and travel to places of historic interest, will visit old homes and churches. The tour will cover such places as the site of the first church in the town of Warren near the Bloomfield Farm, built in 1814; the Baptist Church site in Jordanville built in 1837; the oldest home in the township. The Humphrey Home, now occupied by the Curtis Yule family, descendants of the original owners; site of the Henderson Church; site of the Anderson Massacre; Pages Corners, renamed Cullen in 1866 and the Weatherbee home and Mills, now the Kuncik home at the Corners' the Tory Settlement and site of the Stafford Academy, later the Daniel Shawl farm, the New Turnpike built by Elias Braman in 1808; the Stone House of John Tunicliff III and a stop at famous Henderson House.

The Herkimer County Historical Society is joining with the Henderson Chapter DAR in planning this event.
