Fifteen complete firefighter course

The Otsego County Office of Emergency Services recently announced the completion of New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control Firefighter course.

This class was led by state fire instructor Jeff Schoeberl of the Worcester Fire Department. This 27-hour intensive program included classroom instruction, firefighter skills with live firefighting in structural and flammable gases, and a concentration in building crew leader skills. Joe Hardy, Jim Finch and Mike Strong from Suburban Propane spent time with the class, supplying a propane delivery truck for demonstration and supplying the propane for the live-fire session. Personnel from the Worcester and Oneonta fire departments participated in the live-fire sessions.

The 15 graduates represent eight fire departments throughout Otsego, Schoharie and Delaware counties. Graduates are as follows, listed with their home department:

Bruce Daly and Tom Redding of Hartwick Co. 1; David Bryant and Laura Bryant of Hartwick Co. 2; Heather Nemitz and Harry Whispell of Laurens; Jim Wing and Keith Darraught of Morris; Jason Hassick of Oneonta; Mike Jubar of Otego; Ben Fink of West Laurens; Asa Blue of East Meredith; Chris Stevens of Sharon Springs; and Brian Mulder of Roxbury.
