Americans for the Arts has recognized Golden Artist Colors in New Berlin as a 2012 BCA 10: Best Companies Supporting the Arts in America honoree, a media release said.
Given annually, the BCA 10 recognizes 10 businesses of all sizes for "exceptional involvement with the arts to enrich their workplace, education and the community," the release from the nonprofit arts advocacy organization said. The Business Committee for the Arts awards will be presented at a black-tie gala at the Central Park Boathouse in New York City on Oct. 4.
Victoria Kappel, executive director of the Chenango County Council of the Arts in Norwich, said the council is proud that Golden Artist Colors calls Chenango County home.
"Since 1980, the Golden family has demonstrated their commitment to the arts, the environment, their employees and their community while growing their small business into an international company rooted in integrity and professionalism," she said in a statement. "It is absolutely fitting that they have been recognized as one of the BCA 10."
Golden Artist Colors began as a four-person company producing artist paint in 1980 and now employs 155 full-time employees in its 100,000-square-foot facility.
"We were absolutely thrilled when we received the exciting news," Golden Chief Executive Officer Mark Golden said in the release. "We are so fortunate to be able to work with the most creative artists in the world. This both inspires and enlivens our entire staff knowing we can make a difference. Giving back is just our way to join in this community that has given us so much."
Garden party set in Otego
The Perennial Field in Otego will host a "Garden Party IV" from 2 to 5 p.m. July 29. Refreshments will be served during the event, which celebrates summer, organizers said.

Camp highlights five-gaited horse
A camp in Delhi offers children opportunities to ride Icelandic horses.
The Icelandic Horse Youth Camp at West Wind Farm is enrolling children between the ages of 10 and 14 from a week of riding and other horse-related activities, a media release said. The program will be from Sunday, July 29, to Saturday, Aug. 4.
The Icelandic horse is friendly and sure-footed, with five instead of three natural gaits, the release said, and horses stand about 13 or 14 hands. They have thick manes, long tails and a range of colorings.
Camp activities will include learning to ride the gaits, bareback riding, grooming and tack care, along with swimming with a horse and trail riding, the release said.
