The Italian Kitchen, a Center City landmark for nearly four decades, is closed indefinitely.
Building owner James Baldo is assessing the future of the Italian restaurant and there is a possibility it may re-open, according to his wife, Jacki Hunt.
The Church Street eatery was established in 1972 by Vincenzo Avanzato, and operated by Avanzato and his brother, Anthony, for many years. The Avazatos sold the business in 2008.

Council heads: state support 'holds great promise'
A representative of the Mohawk Valley Regional Economic Development Council said the $60.2 million fund package the group received from the state "holds great promise" for the region.
In a media release, council co-chairmen Bjong Wolf Yeigh and Larry Gilroy praised the council's plan, which was one of 10 submitted statewide in a competition for shares of billions of dollars to stimulate economic growth throughout the state. The Mohawk Valley region includes Otsego and Schoharie counties.
"With a comprehensive roadmap for our future and state support to back our priority projects in place, we are now in a real position to create jobs and leverage investment that will impact our local economies," Gilroy said in the release.
