A liquor store in the village of Richmondville was robbed Tuesday night by a hammer-wielding masked man who snatched the cash register and ran out of the store, the Schoharie County Sheriff's Office reported today.
Investigators said a white male wearing a ski mask entered Elroy's Liquor Store at 334 Main St. shortly before 7 p.m., displayed the hammer and demanded money.
The culprit was described by police as having a slim build, standing 5 feet 7 inches and weighing about 150 pounds. The man then fled on foot; no vehicle was observed.
Police urged anyone with information about the crime to contact the Sheriff's Office by calling (518) 295-8114.
