SIDNEY — Following the second flood in five years that devastated its Sidney manufacturing site, Amphenol Aerospace & Industrial is seeking to relocate the facility locally to make sure it does not happen again, according to an employee contacted today by The Daily Star who read from a company memo.
The company had no comment today on the communication, according to its human resources director, Mimi Morgan.
“The village has been working with Amphenol since Day 1 to address its needs,” Sidney Mayor Andrew Matviak told the newspaper about the situation. The recent flooding occurred last month. He said he did not want to comment further until he had seen the company’s memo.
Delaware County Director of Economic Development Glenn Nealis said he was “partnering” with the village and state to meet Amphenol’s needs and concerns. “My experience has been Amphenol is very committed to this area,” he said. He declined to comment further.
The company, a manufacturer of electrical connectors for military/aerospace and industry, had 1,200 employees before the flood. Nealis said he did not know current totals.
