6 On The Square, at 6 LaFayette Park in downtown Oxford, will host singer-songwriter Mary Fahl at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
Fahl, lead singer and co-founder of the cult band October Project in the mid-1990s, will perform a blend of Celtic, folk and pop music.
Allmusic.com called Fahl the "love child" of Stevie Nicks and Peter Steele, and "a unique artist, sounding like no other vocalist of her era." Variety said, "She's earthier than Enya" and "more nuanced than Celine Dion."

Smithy to open exhibit season
Smithy Center for the Arts is will kick off its season for The Smithy Pioneer Gallery on Monday, with an opening reception from 5 to 7 p.m. The first show will honors the Smithy member artists.
