The Chace-Randall Gallery, at 49 Main St. in Andes, will open "Fractal Landscape: Re-Constructions from Tuscany, the Hudson Valley and South America" by Rimer Cardillo with an artist's reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday.
The exhibition will feature wood cuts and mixed-media works on paper.
Printmaker and installation artist Cardillo fuses the ancient art of woodcut with modern photographic technology, silk-screens and drawing.
Cardillo's pieces incorporate imagery of his Hudson Valley pond and ranches of South America. His woodcuts visit and revisit the hills of La Loggia, Tuscany.
Cardillo's work has been exhibited in solo shows throughout Latin America, Europe and the United States. His work is in collections at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, the Tate Modern in London and the Chicago Art Institute.

Smithy to open exhibit season
Smithy Center for the Arts is will kick off its season for The Smithy Pioneer Gallery on Monday, with an opening reception from 5 to 7 p.m. The first show will honors the Smithy member artists.
