The Oxford Civic Theatre will present “The Last Doll Christmas Musical” at 7 p.m. today and Saturday in the Oxford Academy Performing Arts Auditorium at 50 S. Washington Ave. in Oxford.
The musical, created by Fred Dankert, focuses on 13-year-old Eugenia Standish, living in New York City in 1950s New York City with her wealthy grandmother and a house full of servants.
Living a sheltered life — in which her grandmother wants her to stop playing with dolls — Eugenia (played by Kaitlyn Jackson) has no friends except her last doll Tilly (Amy Branham), who magically comes to life on Christmas Eve. The doll transforms into a real girl, and the whole family travels to a British boarding school. While there, Eugenia encounters a whimsical butler, the school’s owner and an Egyptian mummy sarcophagus.
Directed by Gail Murphy, others in the cast include Allen Lang, Allan Hopson-Sackett, Colleen Sackett-Hopson, Joanie Bradley, Emma Ives, Arik Nisbet, Allen Lang, Lea Davis, Tess Markham, Halie Rotundo and Alley Freyer.
Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and children, and free for audience members 5 years old and younger.
