The Roxbury Arts Group will present New York City-based trio Red Molly at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Roxbury Arts Center, 5025 Vega Mountain Road in Roxbury.
According to a media release, the group is known for a cappella ballads, bluegrass-tinged folk, dobro licks, inventive arrangements and jazzy Western swing in three-part harmonies.
Red Molly formed in the wake of the 2004 Falcon Ridge Folk Festival.
The group performs a mix of original tunes and cover songs from Gillian Welch/David Rawlings, Robert Johnson and Otis Blackwell.
The trio has appeared at Merlefest and the Philadelphia Folk Festival, as well as on National Public Radio's "Mountain Stage."
The band's most recent album is 2011's "Light in the Sky" features three original songs, including "Hello Goodbye," written by member Abbie Gardner and her father, Herb Gardner, which is a "fun, funky tune with a hint of ragtime," the release said.
The Boston Globe said Red Molly has "tick-tight arrangements, crystalline vocals and caramel harmonies."
Other albums are "Never Been to Vegas" from 2006 and 2008's "Love and Other Tragedies," which spent 10 weeks in the Top 15 on the Americana chart. "James," from 2010, logged four months in the Top 40 on the Americana Chart, peaking at No. 4 and landing at No. 23 in the year's Top 100.
