Area Entertainment Roundup: Norwich park to host day of music

Norwich's East Park at the intersection of Broad and Main streets will host the inaugural free Chenango Summer Jam at 2 p.m.

The lineup will include the Woodshed Prophets, Isto, Big Sam's Funky Nation, Tumbleweed Highway and Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad. For a complete schedule and more details, call 334-5653 or go to www.chenangosummerjam.org.

Auditions set for 'Little Shop'

Orpheus Theatre will hold auditions for "Little Shop of Horrors" at 2 p.m. Sunday and 6:30 p.m. Monday at St. Mary's Parish Center, 40 Walnut St. in Oneonta.

All roles are available, and the production dates are Sept. 15 and 16. Rehearsals begin Aug. 6. Music and sides will be given at the auditions.

Soprano to sing Thursday at church

Soprano Barbara Paterson will perform "Songs of Travel" at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church at 296 Main St. in Oneonta.

Paterson will be joined by pianist Keenan Boswell and special guests Kim Paterson and Johana Arnold.

The concert is free and open to the public, with donations accepted to help support Paterson's attendance at Academie Francis Poulenc in Tours, France.

Harmonica band to perform Sat.

The First Baptist Church Harmonica Band will perform at 4 p.m. Saturday at the American Legion on Chestnut Street in Oneonta.

The group also will play at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Otsego County Fair in Morris. The concert will include patriotic marches and hymns.

Quartet to play three concerts

The Larchmere String Quartet will perform three times in the area. First will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Mill Pond Community Center on state Route 80 in Van Hornesville. Second will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3, at Chapel Hall, at 25 Institute St. in Franklin. The third show will be at 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 5, at Windfall Dutch Barn in Salt Springville.
