Area Entertainment Roundup: Neo-funk band to play Autumn

Aotearoa, the two-man neo-funk band from Chicago, will perform at 9:30 p.m. Thursday at the Autumn Cafe, 244 Main St. in Oneonta.

The group has been touring continuously for 16 months and will make its New York debut at the Autumn. The band’s names comes from the Maori word for New Zealand.

Glimmerglass seeks male youths

The Glimmerglass Festival seeks male youths for the role of Alex in its production of Kurt Weill’s “Lost in the Stars.” Auditions for the part will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 1, at Grace Church, 32 Montgomery St. in Cherry Valley.

The group seeks male youths, ages 8 to 14, to play the black South African child who sings “Big Mole” in the show. One boy will perform, with a second as understudy.

Film series to focus on humans, dirt

As part of the Impact Film Series, the Roxbury Arts Group will screen “Dirt! The Movie” at 7 p.m. Thursday at 76 Main St. in Stamford.

The film focuses on sustainable relationships between humans and dirt through profiles of people looking to repair damages to the planet, a media release said.

CANO to host trio of artists in show

A trio of artists will be featured in “Shaping” at the Community Arts Network of Oneonta, 11 Ford Ave. in Oneonta. The exhibit — including the work of Catherine Wuillaume, Emily Falco and David Zimmerman, will open with a reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 1.
