The Open Eye Theater’s Winter Open House will feature a reading performance of “Holiday Musings” — a dozen stories, poems, plays and monologues about the winter holidays. The open house and performances are at 7 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at the Open Eye Theater, at 960 Main St. in Margaretville.
“We wanted to do something special, relaxed and fun between Christmas and New Year’s,” Open Eye artistic director Amie Brockway said in a media release. “These are amusing and moving reflections on our winter holidays starting with Thanksgiving and continuing to the new year. Some are historic or traditional favorites; others are contemporary writings by local authors.”
Local authors include Jake McShane, Bethany Saltman, Rob Greenberg, Patrick Hyland, Wilma Mazo, Brockway, Elizabeth Sherr and Diane Rivoli. Some writers will read their own works. Other readers will include John Exter, Laura Battelani, Rebecca Saunders, Marcy Thorne and Bill Piervincenzi.
Men and women of all ages interested in participating in the readings can call (845) 586-1689.
Also during the open house, members of the staff and board of trustees will greet guests, and some will appear on stage. Those attending can join an informal conversation with writers and readers.
The events are free and open to the public. Presenters suggest making reservations. To make reservations or for more informations, call (845) 586-1660 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
