Community Concert Band to perform Sunday at Foothills

The Oneonta Community Concert Band will present its "Concert Town, USA" show at 3 p.m. Sunday at Foothills Performing Arts and Civic Center, 24 Market St. in Oneonta.

The concert will open with Goldman's "On the Campus March." Other pieces will include Sigmund Romberg's "Student Prince," Carl Millocker's operetta "The Beggar Student," and the "Academic Festival Overture" by Brahms.

Other waltzes, marches and character pieces will be performed, along with the alma maters of Hartwick College and SUNY Oneonta.

The concert will end with Sousa's "On the Campus March."

Tom Slavinsky, retired Oneonta music teacher and Hartwick graduate, will be assistant conductor at the performance. Conductor for the show will be Rene Prins, who teaches at SUNY Oneonta and leads its concert band.

The concert is free and open to the public, with donations being accepted.
