According to a media release, "Aida" will be presented in "an intimate setting meant to highlight the personal drama of the main characters and the political conflict at the heart of the work."

The show will be sung in Italian with projected English translations.

Singers will include Adina Aaron in the title role, bass-baritone Eric Owens as Amonasro, Noah Stewart as Radames and Daveda Karanas as Amneris.

"Aida" runs through Aug. 25 at the Alice Busch Opera Theater at 7300 State Route 80 in Cooperstown.

Other main stage productions this season are Meredith Willson's "The Music Man," which runs from July 14 to Aug. 24; Jean-Baptiste Lully's "Armide," which runs from July 21 to Aug. 23; and Maxwell Anderson and Kurt Weill's "Lost in the Stars," staged from July 22 to Aug. 25.
