COMMENTING ON STORIES:

Belleayre to host 2 jazz shows

The Belleayre Music Festival will present two concerts this weekend: Stefon Harris & Blackout at 8 p.m. today and Pat Metheny with his Unity Band at 8 p.m. Saturday.

Vibraphonist-composer Harris has been called "one of the most important young artists in jazz" by The Los Angeles Times. He is a three-time Grammy nominee who plays modern jazz with doses of pop, hip-hop and funk. He and the Blackout will perform "Jazz for the Here and Now" in the Belleayre Jazz Club.

Jazz musician Metheny is a 19-time Grammy winner and named Downbeat Poll's No. 1 guitarist. He has worked with Herbie Hancock, David Bowie and Ornette Coleman, and will joined at Belleayre by saxophonist Chris Potter, drummer Antonio Sanchez and bassist Ben Williams.

The Belleayre festival is at 181 Galli Curci Road in Highmount.
