Oneonta Theatre to host Jimkata tonight

Electro-rock quartet Jimkata will play the Oneonta Theatre Balcony Ballroom at 9 tonight. The theater is at 47 Chestnut St. in Oneonta.

Based in Ithaca, the group combines guitar with synthesizers and drum machines.

Jambase.com called the band "one of the best up-and-coming bands." According to lostinsound.org, Jimkata is "what this generation needs more of, a band with a fresh sound that's influenced by great music, with an honest and positive perspective about our place in society."

After two years of touring following the release of its self-titled EP in 2007, Jimkata released its debut studio album, "Burn My Money," in 2009.

The group has shared the bill with Snoop Dogg, Bob Weir, The Wailers, The Disco Biscuits and many others. It has appeared at Brewery Ommegang in Cooperstown, the Grassroots Festival and Camp Bisco.

Tickets are $12 at the door or at www.oneontatheatre.com.
