SUNY Oneonta to present 'Little Women' opera

The Apollo Music Club at SUNY Oneonta will present "Little Women," a contemporary opera by Mark Adamo, at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Performances will be in the Goodrich Theater in the Fine Arts Building on the Oneonta campus.

Based on the novel by Louisa May Alcott, the opera will feature a 19-member cast, including Stephen Markuson of the SUNY Oneonta Music Department and Hartwick College adjunct music lecturer Johanna Arnold in the roles of Mr. and Mrs. March.

Catskill Symphony Orchestra conductor Charles Schneider is the musical director and conductor for the production.

Production director is Colby Thomas of the college's Music Department, with students Megan Harrington as Jo, Chelsea Riegal as Meg, Alexandra Schleuderer as Amy and Sarah Buell as Beth.

The show is free for SUNY Oneonta students and $10 for the general public. Tickets can be purchased at the Goodrich Theater box office one hour before each performance. Early purchases can be made starting Wednesday, Feb. 1, at the Hunt College Union, weekdays between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m., or online at http://tickets.oneonta.edu.
