Beaucoup Blue to play 6OTS

Beaucoup Blue, featuring father-and-son duo David and Adrian Mowry, will perform at 7:30 p.m. today at 6 On the Square at 6 LaFayette Park in downtown Oxford.

The nationally touring Americana band is based in Philadelphia.

The pair has been a Billboard Magazine World Song Contest grand prize winner and scored a top 40 hit on the AMA Radio Chart with 2009's "Free to Fall."

The pair has two other albums, "Out Of The Woodwork" from 2003 and "Hearts At Home" from 2005.

The duo mixes blues, traditional and contemporary, jazz, folk, soul and R&B elements into its music.

The Mowrys play a wide range instruments, including six and 12-string guitars, slide guitar and round neck resonator guitar.

Richard Cucarro from Acoustic Live NYC said: "David's slide guitar is the first thing you notice. In tandem with Adrian's deft finger-picking its precision and grace is the aural equivalent of a hot fudge sundae."

Tickets are $18 at the door.

Next up at Six On The Square are comedians Christine Lavin and Don White on Feb. 18 and Chris Shaw on Feb. 25.
